an angel takes a hike and meets an ice cream cone...

this memorial day weekend we took jordan on her second hike. the first time she was nestled next to daddy's chest in an infant carrier but this time she was on his back, up high, and enjoyed every minute of it. while we were walking along the path jordan started to squeal at the sight of dogs...an older man walking his dogs stopped us and asked "does god know?" i asked, "know what?" he replied, "that he's missing an angel." of course he was talking about jordan grace-and i'd have to agree...she is an angel!

following our hike we stopped at "the blue cow" cafe and jordan thoroughly enjoyed her first ice cream cone. it was messy, but a joy to watch her down an entire cone on her own!

strawberry "fields"...i mean "patch"

today, jordan and I walked outside to greet the beautiful morning. still in her pink “pjs” she took off cruising to check out the latest flowers daddy had just planted. after a few minutes of total silence i peered over to see what she had gotten herself into…ahhhh…she discovered the strawberry patch. i walked over and asked, “jordan, what did you find?” she just looked up with her curious, beautiful blue eyes and pointed at the bright red, ripe berry.

i asked, “would you like to taste one?” she replied, “yes,” with a most distinct sweet sound. i bent down to show her how to pull off the berry and then handed her a plump, but small, red one. her eyes were wide as she gently took it from my palm. “mmm,” she said. we continued to search out the ripe berries for another 15 minutes or so…her fingers and lips stained a crimson red.…she simply didn’t want to stop! i explained that there weren’t any more sweet, ripe ones left. she wasn’t ready to give up and continued to scour the patch searching for more. “lady j, tomorrow is a brand new day and there will be brand new berries….i promise,” i said.

locks and lollipops

a couple of weeks ago i took jordan to the "honey comb" salon for her very first haircut. jordan doesn't have much hair to begin with...so lisa didn't have much to style...just a little trim. lisa, the hairstylist, made jordan comfortable by giving her a cherry lollipop - her first as well - she loved it!
